What to pack for Umrah and what to leave at home

Packing for Umrah is mostly about comfort and about carrying less than you think you need. You will walk a lot, so a bag you can manage yourself matters more than a large suitcase.

Start with clothing. Pack simple, loose, breathable clothes that are easy to wash and dry. Bring comfortable footwear that you have already worn in, because new shoes and long walks do not go together. A spare pair of socks in your hand bag is a good habit.

Then the small items. A small bag for daily use, a water bottle, a lightweight prayer mat if you like to have your own, and a few plastic bags for wet or dirty items. Bring a phone charger and a power bank, and check what plug type your adapter needs.

Medicine needs care. Keep it in the original packets, in your hand luggage, with a short note from your doctor for anything you take regularly. Add basic things like pain relief, plasters and rehydration salts.

Keep copies of your passport and booking details on paper and on your phone.

Check your airline baggage allowance before you buy anything new, and leave space for what you bring back.

If you are still choosing where to book, read about Umrah packages from Pakistan from a Lahore tour company and ask what the baggage allowance on your flight is before you pack.
